Thought palettes in the green beauty word were obsolete? I almost did too. I can't lie, I did miss the convenience of my Naked Palettes with all their perfectly coordinating colors in travel friendly packaging, but not anymore! Zuzu Luxe / Gabriel Cosmetics have stepped in to take care of all of our palette woes.
First up to bat is definitely the one I favor of the two. This is the Zuzu Luxe Lava Palette, aka warm shadow perfection. Did I mention that I won this in a giveaway on the Zuzu Luxe Instagram?! That was the first time I have won anything, except, you know....that time in second grade when I won that M&M lamp. I am much more pleased with this. MOVING ON. As you can see this a fall shadow dream. What I love most about this palette is that it's a totally one stop shop for a total eye look. From a subtle gold wash over the lid, to a full on smokey eye, this palette has you covered. Unfortunately, all these shadows are nameless, but are showing up very true in the photo.
Now onto the serious stuff. How does this palette perform? Well, as shown above this palette is crazy pigmented. I was very pleased to see this because I own two Zuzu Luxe singles (Gem and Chameleon) both of which are smooth as silk, and pigmented as can be. Though these shadows don't have names I would like to point out that the first and third shade are matte. Perfect for a brow bown highlight and some dark crease work. Then we have that beautifully metallic orange, and camel-like gold. My mouth is watering is even just typing those descriptions. They all go perfectly together, so for you shadow newbies, this could be your new best friend.
So, what's the price point and what do I REALLY think? Well for 27 bucks and some fabulous pigmentation all in one compact little case, I am going to have to give this a big thumbs up. Total bonus points because this is both gluten free and vegan. I believe these are limited so go ahead and pick yours up here.
So you're not a warm shadow kind of girl, I get that (not really but I am trying, okay?!) Well, good thing this Gabriel Cosmetics Palette in 'Smokey Shimmer' has got your back. Not only is it equally pigmented and smooth as it's ZuZu Luxe counterpart mentioned above, it is already set up on teaching you how to apply. Now, as a total eye shadow hoarder this set up isn't my favorite, but for a beginner I think it's definitely useful. My one gripe with this palette? Not a matte shade in site. Now I love me a good shimmer shadow, but shimmer from lashline to browbone? I will have to pass on that. I think if a nice matte grey was thrown in this palette could have also been a one stop shop.
On to the swatches! As you can see we have a beautiful shimmery taupe, greytoned black with shimmer that mostly dissipates when applies, and a shimmery white-pink. I personally love all three shades, but I am not sure they are my favorite together. Perhaps the taupe on the lid, black in the crease, and pink in the inner corner? Ideas people, ideas! With that being said, I do still think this is a lovely little trio. I personally would need to throw in an extra matte shade, but if you're a shimmer lover and like to wear it proud say hi to this little number!
To buy or not to buy? This is a tough call! These palettes come in close to the ZuZu Luxe at 24.50, and personally, I don't think I would purchase at that price. I may be slightly biased as someone who doesn't favor cool tones, but for 3 dollars more I would rather get the extra shadow in the Zuzu Luxe. This one is definitely your call! If you can pick it up on sale, well, that's a different story....It is available for purchase right over here.
Here's a little eye look I created with the Gabriel cosmetics 'Smokey Shimmer' Palette. I did have an up close photo for you guys, but hairy girl problems (yes unibrow I am talking to you) prevented me from posting. Forgive me....but as you can see it really is quite a pretty, and very simple grey smokey eye. Want to know how I achieve this? Go ahead and watch this!
So that's it for my little palette party everyone! What did you think? Are you going to pick something up? Let me know! Until next time, XO!
